AE2 Pattern Encoding (Stoneblock 2)

I'm trying to set up autocrafting with Applied Energistics, but I'm having a bit of trouble. I'm able to encode normal crafting recipes - if I put a real recipe in the pattern encoder, the output shows up on the right and I can encode it. I'm trying to do custom recipes though, for smelting and other external machines. Like entering a recipe on the left And specifying the output on the right. I know I've done it in the past but for whatever reason I'm just lost this time. Is it something to do with the mod version? I am running Applied Energistics 2 version rv6-stable-7, and AE2 Stuff version 0.7.0.4.

Any ideas what might be going wrong? Wasn't able to figure it out from wikis. Thank you!
